Your "BEST" boat buy....

O.K.... New thread here, a good spot for letting all on Ribnet know how good you are at the "art of the deal". It could be a piece of equipment, (electronic) a trailer, a motor, or a boat by itself, but we all know the true measure by which all men are judged: The Total package! Put er up there guys, it's fun to see what kind of deals people have made... Somewhere down the line I'll let you in on what I PAID for my most recent, but only after the dust settles...

Dang, I knew something was wrong when I had to blow her up and she looked like a tug.

Now i'm more likely to use the boat on shite days.

Looked at an Alaska 500 which had been parked in a drive next to a fur for 2 years. Agreed a price, towed it home, washed it, serviced engine, fitted a VHF and sold it a week later for £2500 more than I paid.

Is this the sort of deals you are looking for??

Further to this I am now on boat 5 and have never sold one for less than I bought it. There are many bargains out there to be had and if you take care of the kit any depreciation can be managed.

Flotation suit and the Save Phace, now completely weatherproof and snug as a bug. Just need to persuade the Mrs to do the same so we can go whale spotting...

Oh and getting contact lenses, worn glasses since I was 14 but a complete non starter for boating!!!

The sailing boat was from my mate who has emigrated to Australia. The Plasma TV had a speaker that crackled - the bloke said I could have it if i wanted it. As I have a Denon amp with full surround sound speakers I didn't think it would be too much of a problem!!!

The picture quality is pretty good - but I still prefer my Sony Wega 100hz 32" CRT - it's just the 32" looks so small now..........

I got my first boat ever the other week... An 1989 Avon (dunno what model yet) with a 25hp 2-stroke Yammy motor that looks like you could eat off it. I ran it up and down the coast of Newport Beach a couple hours this past weekend, it purred like a kitten (loves to run flat out, apparently) and didn't sink so we're in business.

Boat is about 3.5-4M, has a front steering console with side-mounted remote controls for the outboard, came with a bunch of accessories. Should be a fun project.

Net cost: $338 (after CA registration and title)

Bought 5.75 Viper for £2000, sold it 3 years later for £7500!

I did put a second hand 150 hp optie at £3500 & gave it a lot of love!
