As you know I am involved with the Pride of Bristol Trust
www.prideofbristol.org
(site soon to be updated - but you get the picture!)
Anyway... Our main objective is to enable young people (thats 16 - 23 ish) young people to experience life at sea and in doing so find out about themselves.
We have worked with The Princes Trust (Prince Charles even came and had a meeting on the Ship), local schools, youth centers and Children from the Chernobyl Nuclear accident.
We are currently looking for more groups to work with!
We get the kids involved with everything from Chart / Rope work, to working on the wheel, cooking etc. We have a RIB that we use for training and we have crew that are qualified as RYA Powerboat 2 instructors.
The kids work a watch system like the crew - but usualy reduced hours.
We work with their leaders to provide a custom made trip.
As this is the main aim of our charity we sponsor these groups - we normaly ask that they pay for their food, and possibly some of the fuel, but apart from that its all part of the service! Much cheaper than using a commercial operation.
We can take upto 12 passengers and the group must provide their own leader.
I notice we have a few members of the "WaterScouts" on the board - this is the sort of organisation that we would be interested in hearing from.
So if anyone knows of any groups that are interested then please drop me a line (Send me a message by going to my profile)
Cheers
