His effort might have seemed foolhardy to some but he insists he was well-prepared for a race that has claimed 11 lives in 73-year history.
He had 200 litres of fuel with him and also three EPIRB devices.
“I have researched this very thoroughly for quite a long time,” he insisted.

He said he refuelled twice hugging the coast. 200 litres is hell of a weight on a zapcat.
