ZODIAC 7 - new model ? Prices ? Any experiences ?

Just visited zodiac webpage (no idea why).

And discovered something like new model

https://www.zodiac-nautic.com/en/sho...open-en/open7/

Width 2,5 is perfect for me (towing limits in Poland 2,55)
I do love to test it with Evinrude 250 HO

I could not find any prices on net. I'm curious about weight.
If 900 kg is boat and 200 engine and 400 trailer maybe 1500 GVW trailer be ok for this boat ?

There are two models.

Pro 7
(open RIB, can have any console layout mounted)

Pro 7 Open
(molded-in deck layout)

I got a chance to operate the Pro 7 here in the US, as well as a Pro 750. It was equipped with a Mercury Verado 250. Pro 750 had 2 x Yamaha F150.

The Pro 7 is a very light hull for its size. Very agile, quick to plane. The console is designed very well to minimize wind.

It's a definite step between the Pro 650 and Pro 750 hulls that Zodiac already makes. By comparison, the Pro 750 is a lot wider. It gives the Pro 750 more deck space, but it's a heavier and slower boat because of the hull drag. 50 miles offshore, I'd prefer the 750 (heavier boat = softer ride quality), but the Pro 7 is going to exceed the Pro 750 when talking base performance. It's a much more advanced hull.

Mercury did a performance bulletin on the Pro 7 already while it was at the Miami Boat Show a few weeks ago

(THEY HAVE THE WRONG MODEL LISTED, THIS BULLETIN IS FOR THE PRO 7 NOT THE 650)

4,1 MPG at 3500 RPM and 30 MPH it be:

So 58 l / 100 km
Speed 48 km/h
About 1,6km per liter (1mile per liter)
Not bad for so big engine and boat

A) Any more details about "advanced hull"
B) "Boat Weight as Tested 2700 lbs" == 1225 kg. Trailer 400 kg so it looks like minimum GVW for trailer is 1600 kg

Do you know real weight of 650 Open PRO ?

A.) the hull deck joint is very different. It has the same captive joint that is used on the 750, 850, and NZO models. Basically, the deck is a male, and the hull is female. The deck is slightly smaller than the hull. So when the two pieces are mated (with the stringer setup inside), the deck sits inside the hull. Because of the way the joint is formed, it sees very little horizontal shearing stress.

With a sandwich style joint, it sees a LOT of horizontal shear, due to flexing as you bounce off waves, so you have to use a strong adhesive with some flexibility to ensure your hull/deck adhesive doesn't fail, and your fiberglass hull doesn't peel apart. Or, you can fiberglass over the the edge of the sandwich joint to add more tensile strength, but this takes a lot of time (cost) since it cannot be done in the mold...it has to be done in the open air, so there's a lot of sanding and polishing.

I believe the hull also uses a lot of vinylester resin and infusion processes? Not 100% on that though, that was "through the grapevine".

B.) I would not trust that weight. Usually, tweaks happen once boats go in to full production, and weight goes up and down..plus, since the number is so round, it's probably an engineering estimate anyways.

I have received from Zodiac contact some PDF files with more details about these boat OPEN 7 AND PRO 7.

I will wait for new PRO 6,5 available on the end of this year and decide if buy something new for 2018.

I have not any problems with mine Highfield but I do need 2 x double jockey seats and comfortable rear bench for 3 (and 150 HP Evinrude HO of course). We are 5 people and more often we have 2 more adults guests on our boat.

And full setup have to be below 1500 kg (boat + engine + trailer + 50% of fuel). Generally real weight of the boat on trailer.

Austria police did check my trailer once (everything was OK, weight was below 1200 kg and current trailer is 1300 GVW).

It looks like new Zodiac PRO 6,5 can be in range and SKIPPER 7 (from Greece - it is 7m very deep V 33 degree at transom and light - infusion) and RIBEYE A600

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

About RIBEYE - how can I buy it after BREXIT ?? I'm really curious ...

WOW. ZODIAC is really in the offensive

I would love it with jockey seats having lockers (based on my experience for 5 people family we need many, many lockers):

I gave up on Zodiac Open 7 from few reasons:

- towing limit of my car is 1550 kg (based on feedback from Zodiac boat+engine be 1300kg)
- lack of locker spaces

In current boat I do have lockers in each jockey seats, big locker in the central console and big locker on the back (open under rear bench seats).

But I did find some movie on FB (and it states that locker under console is really locker under the deck !!! and it has 1200 liters of capacity:

some comment under movie states that it can fit "3 x bagged Cadet FR360s"
https://www.facebook.com/ZodiacNauti...1819966871127/

Clever solution for me. Low center of gravity. I do hope it has some drain until bilge on the rear.

There is new one ZODIAC VR 22.

It is on my list hoping to be in weight towing range

This one in red color I like (in above mentioned movie).
Of course movie looks like CAD / computer animation.

Hope to touch it in reality

Hello
I had an open 650 and would like to buy myself a pro 7.
I would like to know if the price is really worth it.
Is there a significant difference in size on the floor?
