Zodiac Hurricane 733 Bilge Outlet

Good Morning,

I've recently purchased a project boat in a Zodiac Hurricane 733. It has been converted from the inboard diesel to an Outboard. The previous owner installed a bilge pump where the diesel was and placed the Bilge pump outlet in the boat in front of the elephant trunks. It seems to me there is a better way to get water out of the boat than first pumping it into a different part of the boat.

I'm curious where other locate their bilge outlets, presumably thru the transom or create an outlet over the engine.

Thanks,

Steve

That's a crap idea!
You can't pump out if the boat isn't moving, assuming the elephants trunks are below the waterline at rest.

A simple fitting through the transom ABOVE the waterline is where the pump outlet needs to go.

Nice boat!

If it were me I would put a 2,000gph pump and just run the tubing straight over the stern, as I don't see a need to put a hole in the boat when the boat is mostly open at the stern. The less sharp bends and connections the faster the water will flow. The port side of the engine dip looks good, but maybe the starboard. I ran mine in with the outboard controls, etc., over the stern and out the back straight, but we have completely different boats. Something like this for a quality hose that doesn't kink. The hose can be made malleable with a heat gun, as it is very stiff, and has a smooth interior for water flow. That cheesy bendy white or black corrugated hose is...not good stuff. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZSYADV4/

It goes right through the transom. Here is a picture of the diesel and an outboard 733. They always go through the transom… no exception.

Drill the hole, insert the through hull and use 5200 to seal it. Easy day and simple job… just get the correct size hole saw!!!!
