Such an impressive boat! I saw it for "real" at the Quebec/St-Malo Transat this summer. I'm surprise there is so few comments on it. This boat make me envious...
Yes it is a beast, it goes throught everything. I went out with the customer several times and one time we where doing 40 knots in a 4 feet sea, at this place the waves and short in distance so it makes the ride quite rought on the boat, but not for us, the console work so well it is hard to explain.

Ullman are great, very well built. I would say that they are both (ullman and shockwave) at the top of their game. However, from my experience when I sat on the Ullman seat I had the feet on the deck, so I have the tendencies to use my legs to anticipate the shocks, I couldn't let the seat work properly. It made the ride "a little bit" less confortable (nothing to compare with a normal seat though)
With the Shockwave console, you are "in" the console, your feet don't touch the deck, so you don't feel at all the suspension working. It is natural, the boat work out in the waves but you are feeling nothing, just a pleasant ride. The way to feel how good it is working is by putting a foot on the deck, then you can appreciate how much it works.
The only time I felt the limit of shocks is when we took a huge tug wave in an already choppy water. The customer was driving the boat and it was new for him, he wasn't yet able to analyse the waves and we took that HUGE wave at full speed. I saw that wave coming and said to myself; oooooh man that's gonna hurt...
We launched in the air he we were at least 6 feet in the air and flew on a distance of 30 feet (yes an other fishing story). It dried the props (or like we say in french "when the engine bark") and it landed beautifully....I checked myself, I had not any broken ribs and all my members were still attached to my body

How the console is connected to the steering, fly by wire? Or it is possible to fit the console on an older boat with older engines with mechanical controls?

No fly by wire, the main harness (morse cable, steering, wiring etc...) are runned to the back of the console and go inside the hull directly.
Yes it is possible to add this console to an older boat, no problem. However, you'll need to make a major job to solidify each anchor to the deck with backing plate etc...
Your comment is a proof that there is no such thing as "THE PERFECT BOAT". We should always say the perfect boat for me or the perfect boat for my use or, been more realistic, the best boat I can afford...
