Zodiac mkII classic - long/short shaft

Evening all
I have the MKII classic with ali floor. It's 4.2m and Zodiac state that a short shaft outboard is best suited.

Can anyone explain what the effect of running a long shaft would cause?

Thanks in advance
Si
