Zodiac PVC end cap seam covers coming off

Hi.

The piece of PVC material that covers the end-cap seam is coming off on both my starboard and port tubes. I've included photos link below.

I'm assuming that it's just a simple matter of cleaning up and re-gluing the covers on. But want to ask for any tips and tricks before I start?

I'm guessing that I use MEK solvent to clean it up, then a 2 part PVC adhesive?
Should I keep tubes inflated during repair and cure?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Welcome to the board

In Cali we can't get MEK anymore, but it is the correct pre-wipe prep for PVC glue up. I have always used Acetone to clean with scuffy pads for glue removal. The courser the scuffy pad the better. You want to remove as little material as possible and sanding removes glue quickly along with PVC. Use gloves and a respirator. I've found a small cup allows me to dip the small cut down scuffy pad into. If the glue is thick I will carefully sand it thinner with sandpaper to save time, then finish removal with scuffy pad. Once glue is cleaned off you will need to gouge the material with around a 60grit by hand to break the surface and give the glue something to bite into.

You will also need to remove part of the rub rail to completely remove the band.

I have been happily using Stabond glue for years. Lots of glue up instructions on NRS's website. https://www.nrs.com/stabond-adhesive/pkjz

Boat inflated but no where near full pressure. Make it so you can poke into it with a knuckle. I prefer a rounded over flat tool for pressing the material down but a roller can work.

Tape off around glue points.

Having owned a Zodiac with failed glue, I would say there are other parts that will soon start falling off...like the transom and floor. Keep a close eye on everything glued. The tubes should be thermo bonded and they tend not to fail.
