zodiac yachtline 420 dl, Transom bracket

I have a zodiac 420 dl yachtline which needs some love. I have ordered new pontoons and have bought a new 40 hp two stroke mercury. I know- new and two stroke!?- However I managed to buy a new two stroke
The only drawback is that it is short leg and I need long leg for the yachtline.
I have two ways to solve it: 1. Get extension kit from Bay MFG 2. Redesign the transom
I would really like to see if I can lower the engine by cutting some of the transom bracket off.
Any off you out there tried something similar? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thx in advance!
Robert

If you've managed to buy a new 2-stroke engine, I'm not even going to ask how, why didn't you get a long shaft engine in the first place?

I certainly wouldn't be cutting the transom bracket. An extension on the leg would be the way to go.
