4.00m - 4.80m RIB + 4 stroke

Upgrading from an Aerotec 380. Looking for a good sea keeping boat with a nice deep hull. For two adults and two kids + occasional guests. Want a four stroke engine. 4.8m absolute max length. Thinking an Ribcraft 4.8, Ribquest 4.8, SR 4/4.7 or similar ....

Hi Donald,

What is the seating arrangement?

I've no experience of Zodiac ribs, but people on this forum seem to think they 'slam' more than the British designed boats?

Where about's are you? I know of an Avon 2010 470 with a 60hp 4 stroke that might be coming up for sale.

Only RIB I have owned so cannot comment on 'slamming' but not found it a problem.
2 man Jockey

RIBase
Ribcraft 4.8m with Yamaha F60 or Suzuki DF60 (only 110kg) is nice balance. Two person jockey console works well. Few examples on used market just now. 5 year warranty on boat if you buy new. Tubes are hypalon.

Don't think I've seen a second-hand Ribquest 4.8m in 4 years of looking. I visited Ribquest when Dave Rose was running things in Sheffield. Quality boat in Orca fabric. Can take up to 70hp, so new Yamaha F70 would be option, but not cheap.

Searider 4.7m - can't comment. Has loyal following here and justifiably so. Someone will give you low-down on best match engine wise and seating configuration.

Zodiac 9 Man Pro (renamed 500) I wouldn't class as a deep v. Most examples I've seen are matched with a Yamaha F60. Seating wise bench seat and forward bow cushion is for family set up. or 2 man jockey. Comes with 5 year warranty on tubes and hull. Usually PVC (Strongan Duotex fabric) but now available in hypalon/neoprene. Huge dealer network and more accessories than you can shake a stick at. More suited for the South of France in my opinion!

Thanks for your thoughts Spartacus.

The RIB you've linked caught my eye as well. I think it is over priced though. Having been commercially used, there is no warrantee left, the tubes are a bit faded, and she is generally a bit unloved for such a youngster.

I missed one Ribcraft had for brokerage which would have been a better bet.

Thanks Sandy,

But I'm after a four stroke, also the Tornado is 4.85 I believe, and I have an absolute limit of 4.8.

Hi Sandy,

I have a six month old hon wave with a Honda 20hp four stroke, I bought this rib and engine for £3800 and used it twice, I loved the water so much I have just bought a 7 metre fast fishing boat, I am after a tender for it( around 3m ) that's the reason I am reluctantly thinking of selling this Honda rib.
If you are interested please call me on 07956880728 or srloftconversions@gmail.com

Thanks Steve

What's the budget for this? I will shortly have a 4.5m Humber with 40hp Mercury 4-stroke available. Single jockey console, snipe trailer. Will be looking for £3650 for it.
