Dear Dry Run,

I am looking ideally for a 115HP engine. Although mainly for cruising there will be times when it will be used for Wake boarding and water skiing. Possibly drop to a 90HP but I do not want to go lower than that.

On the boat ideally like the seat set up like the Zodiac 550 Pro Open or the Valiant 5.70.

Currently I am in France but back in 2 weeks time and I made a mental note to call you as we are based near Farnham and Portsmouth is easy to get to.

For the right boat,engine,trailer combination will go to around £15 - £18K

Firstly thank you for those that have contacted me with RIBs for sale.

I would like to re-iterate that I am looking for a 5.5 - 6.0 metre only.
Must be able to seat a minimum of 4 people without use of suicide seat.
115-150Hp Optimax preferred but 4 stroke Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki considered.

It will be taken to France so a good trailer is mandatory. Ideally looking for a RIB with an engine still under warranty.

A couple of RIBS offered to me later than 2005 have not been able to show a CE Certification. I am looking for a B or C Category hull.

Because this RIB will be taken to France permanently I will have to register it there which requires a CE Certification. Does the hull have the Builders Plate with the following:

Boats from builders who meet the EEC directive will have two points of identification attached to the RIB:

Hull Identification with:
The HIN, which holds the following info,
should be moulded into the hull.
Manufacturer’s code
Country of manufacture
Unique serial number
Year of production
Model year.

Builder’s Plate with:
Manufacturer’s name
CE Marking
Boat design category
Manufacturer’s maximum recommended load
Number of persons recommended to be carried

*It is a legal requirement that all RIBs are CE marked.

Ideally South Coast based.

Hopefully I can find something that meets these requirements, is priced sensibly looking for a cash buyer.

Ribcraft have a few 585's on their website. I had an RC585 with a 1404 stroke Suzuki for seven years and took it all over the country. I thought it was an excellent boat.

I have spoken to Ribcraft and they do indeed have a few ex-Olympic refurbished as new and warrantied 585's with New Suzuki 140 HP 4 strock engines.

However, by the time you add the trailer etc and maybe an A frame the rig starts getting quite expensive although no doubt good value for what they would say was a brand new boat.

At the moment I seem to be offered rigs circa £9-10K with hull about 2003-6 and engines about 5 years old but well equipped to 2010 rigs with engine still with warranty around the £18-£20K mark. So far not much in the middle ie £14-£17K range. The upper range boats have not had the right seating arrangement.

That's a pity. When I looked at their website they seemed to have a couple of boats that meet your criteria. Guess their website is out of date.

Registering a used trailer in France will be a Mine Field, if a trailer has the new "single Certification" then you will have no problem but trying to register a trailer that does not may well prove impossible.

ALL RIB craft sold in the UK are required to have compliant RCD / EU paper work but again new you will not have a problem but starting with a used craft MAY leave with a huge problem when it comes to Registration to the point where it is not possible.

We do not have any used craft within the Budget

£20 K will buy you a new XS 600 with 125 Opti

I have now paid the deposit on a 2012 ex demo Piranha 5.8 with 6 month old Evinrude 75 hp ETEC all with warranty. This is the Polish built Piranha and the sea trial went well and eveyone was very helpful. Yes of course there are better rough weather RIBs but for our pupose it suits perfectly. So no longer looking.

Mistake boat comes with a Evinrude 90hp ETEC warrantied to Aug 2017 and Rib has 5 yrs of warranty and new Roller, braked trailer. RIB will be on show at London Boat Show on the Piranha stand as a 6.0 metre RIB. Went to see it being fitted out yesterday and very excited and pleased with the support from the team at Piranha.
