5-5.9mtr RIB Wanted
Hi All,
I’m looking for a 5 to 5.9mtr RIB, no bigger as the marina charges go up a lot for 6mtrs plus!
Ideally with Double console, twin jockey and preferred bench at rear for my daughters but two more jockeys not an issue. Front console seat if possible? Engine 60hp plus 2 or 4 stroke.
Would really like (love) a Ribcraft, Ribeye, Ribtech, 5.3, 5.5 or 585 but my budget is only £10k might be able to stretch to £11k so I’m asking a lot.
Please PM me give me a call on 07727 643120 if you having anything that may suit or if you know where I might find something for my budget. I’ve tried all the usual websites and everything is out of my budget!
Thanks
Andy

This isn't a million miles from you. Slightly over budget, but see what you think. It's at Wills Marine, Devon. https://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/...tec-585/203813

Thanks for the info.
I have to agree it does look a little heavy on the rear? Plus that’s two engines that need servicing/spares although there’s the safety aspect if one gives up at sea.
Not sure of the layout either? My wife wants a “pretty boat” and this is a bit of a miss mash.
Not for me unfortunately.

You're not asking much. Double console, twin jockey, bench seat at rear and something your wife would call pretty for £11k!
Looked at Ribeye, and A550 would be perfect, but unfortunately they're expensive second-hand, but they do tick all your boxes.
Did come across this old Ribeye 5.8, but the seats look like they were removed from a double decker bus, it's over budget and it ain't pretty. https://www.apolloduck.com/boat.phtml?id=556101
The Ribcraft 5.3 is a nice looking boat. Could be you just have to wait, and one may come along. This was on Gumtree from a couple of years ago, but gives you an idea of price and internal layout. https://www.gumtree.com/p/boats-kaya...ale/1173874302

You have a very narrow search, and that’s absolutely fine, it’s your search. However, a wee bit of compromise may well be needed. It’s very hard to get the perfect boat, especially if restricted by budget.
My suggestion is you should look at getting something older, therefore much cheaper, and then refurbing it to your requirements with the remainder of your budget. Replacing existing seating / console with consoles and jockeys / benches to your ‘taste’ is a straightforward job, for you or a company.
For example, this -
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F323095881864
Haggle for say £5k ? and if you spend the remainder of your £10/11k budget on it changing things out then you’ll have a good RIB exactly the way you want it. A lot of the equipment can be re-used. It might be a tad underpowered but that can be solved in next year’s budget !!! Don’t be put off by the orange dive boat look, there’s some lovely black / orange RIB’s out there.
I’ve done something similar, for a shade under £10k. Works for me.

I will be putting my 5.5m mako up for sale shortly.
It has 2x 2seater bench seats and a single infront of the console. 2x 75hp etec's with approx. 140hrs on them.
Will be asking around £9000

Hi Pilotwillie,
Thanks for the advice, I just don’t have the time to do a refurb, 3 kids with all their activities doesn’t allow that! I know I’m asking a lot but I’m open to different layouts, different. Makes, I’d like to see what people can offer or know is available.
Thanks

Hi BigYin,
Don’t know anything about a 5.5m Mako RIB. What are the tubes made from?
Could you pm me some pictures and details and I’ll have a look.
Thanks

I feel your pain, I have 4 kids !
I’m not suggesting you use up your valuable home time to do it. Again, I know exactly what you mean. Find yourself a good hull for approx. 50% (or less !) of your budget and then with the remainder let the experts to do it for you. In a matter of weeks you could have have your ideal ‘pretty’ RIB which will look nothing like what you’d bought.
Good luck with the search [emoji1303]

Hi Goearth
Thanks for the offer but I’d really like a bigger engine than a 50hp.
Cheers

I wish I could just put some 580 decals on but the marina I’m going to keep it actually run a tape measure bow to stern including the engine to ensure you’re under 5.9!mtrs 🤓

If they count the trailer you are in trouble. a 6m boat is easily 7m plus on trailer including engine. Worth clarifying before buying perhaps.

Yes I had to think about that!
The RIB will be in the marina for a few months and the trailer kept at home! I’ll be able to slip the trailer to retrieve the RIB so I can go further a field.
