5.5 to 6m rib wanted

Anyone know of anything for sale, will be used mostly for cruising and fishing. Hopefully seating for 3-4 with decent size engine.
Am prepared to travel for the right package.

For reference I’ve just missed out on a 5.5m Humber Destroyer .
Budget is iro 7k

Thought I'd seen a Humber Destroyer recently on a search.

In budget. Plenty space to fit another jockey or bench behind to seat four.

Thanks, I’ve sent him a message.

Any thoughts on the xr20 currently on Ebay?

Regards xr20, interesting.

Not a fan of ebay auctions for something like this unless you've done your homework and someone has physically seen the boat and engine. That said, Ospreys have loyal following on RIBnet, so I'm sure others will be along who have in-depth knowledge of any potential pitfalls with this particular model.

Seller's site here: https://www.buoyztoyz.co.uk/boats-for-sale

Goes without saying, only hand over cash on completion of sale when you pick up the boat and have seen the engine running. I'd want a engine print-out and compression test.

Sounds like the trailer needs a service before you haul it anywhere.

Regards 6 month warranty - how does that work in practice? Is it underwritten by insurance company, etc.

That xr2 has been on ebay a few times nov/Dec I think I seen it roughly, I'm sure once there was no reserve, have a look at ebay completed listings.

Don't know the seller but when I bought my rib the warranty was if there is a fault then report it and a part was sent out. In my case it was a bilge fuel alarm that failed and it couldn't have been any easier. A damn site easier than getting arnold clark to admit a fault with a car they sold anyway!

Hi Xk59D, I was fairly sure I’d seen it listed before as no reserve. How do I check completed listings?

You need to view eBay from a desktop machine or put your mobile or tablet in desktop in the chrome options menu, you then have advanced options menu at the top beside the search box, the option for completed listings is in there.

I can't help if Apple I'm afraid, not had anything Apple for many years but I assume will have similar.

Try this link, might work https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ebayadvsearch

So I went to see the xr20 yesterday morning, I had made an offer subject to it being as described and hearing the engine running.
IMO the transom and deck were completely water logged, there is exposed timber on the top of the transom and a big stainless plate over most of it. Several sets of transom holes filled with what appeared to be silicone.
Looks like slight impact damage and stress cracks on the bow above the eye, one tube was flat and the LHS pod was loose/ flexing the deck.
Apparently it has sold on eBay twice now but has yet to leave his yard.

It was a big project and if you had the time and inclination could have been turned into a nice rib again.
So a 900 mile round trip and a return ferry ride later I’m still on the lookout however did get the opportunity to see a very nice searider on the way home.

Well that is pretty poor of the seller and explains why it has been on ebay a few times.

A new transom may no be that big of a job if you can use seacast (never used it but looked at it before for fixing a boat, looks good stuff with great reviews) but the deck would be a mare.

Next time you see a boat either post on forum as someone may be in area or seek out a survey.

Last rib I had surveyed needed a new deck and transom so the surveyor didn't even charge me as he could tell in minutes boat was a shed.

Damned if I would use it. Given the stress we put these transoms under, I wouldnt want a pour in transom that looks like it's mixed with a chopper gun.

Composite transom or not is a whole other thread but it doesn't matter in this one, op made right call to move on.

If someone does buy it then one of the builders on here can probably give a quote for the work but probably going to be very expensive fix.

I made him an offer based on what I perceived to be the engine value with a view to buying it as a project, no deal was done.

I'd agree with that! only one way to do a proper job, rip it out from inside take up a section of deck and glass it all back up

Some yank builders hang thousand plus HP on composite transoms.....may be the future.

http://www.gradywhite.com/the-grady-...al-components/

Coosa board is one I've heard mentioned for rebuilt transoms....interesting stuff.
