4.7m..

That 4.7m on ebay at the moment from Item number: 260845125360
I sold the hull August 2010 for £1500.. the guy selling was going to strip out his 5.4m and stick it all on the 4.7m.. his 5.4m looked good as hetowed the 4.7m back to the island with it and the 4.7m I sold was a good hull (should have kept it).
So if you think the price is right..
Boat hull £1500
Engine 75hp Yamaha £2500 - £3000
Trailer £500
Equipment £500+
At a guess...

Thanks for the reply, that is really good information. Do you know anything about why the hull was painted?

Hull paint..

I don't think means the hull it is the deck.. The gel coat was in good cond, but the deck needed all patches of non slip removed and redone so I guess that is what he did..
The hull was sound.. have some pics of the before if wanted to see.

For example, is the tube to hull connection the same as on standard tubes? Thanks for everyone's help. Woody
I had a 4.7 ex-MoD (from Matt), details here:

http://www.rib.net/forum/f8/my-new-b...7-a-37261.html

When I eBayed mine there was phenomenal interest in it - that one is a very good price - especially with a 2 stroke Yam 75 on it - much more fun than the 60hp 4 stroke I had.

The buyer hired a container lorry from Ireland to collect mine and he could still have sold for a premium the next day - rare boats and advertised properly do very well.

There is an ex-military one up for sale for £5,900 showing the same pictures as you had in your link with the same land rover. Now I am really confused!

So did you sell this boat on ebay?

Not sure if this is aimed at me? (always best to include quotes in your replies to avoid confusion!).

Have you got a link? I sold mine back in April.

This is the Gumtree ad that Woody73 found - I'm posting it as a warning - almost guaranteed this has to be a scam and if anyone wants to try and follow up the ad and view the 'boat' for sale that might be interesting! Suspect a deposit or similar will be asked for by Western Union or similar money transfer. The Gumtree 'seller' (posting ads since August?!) has indeed taken some pics and some wording from the original eBay ad - but having known the RIB enthusiast who bought it and the fact he paid a lot of money to send a container from Ireland to the south coast etc on top of the boat price I cannot see how it turns up in East London for a too good to be true price...

I thought it sounded too good to be true and couldn't understand why it was changing hands so quickly. I tried phoning last night and the number was surprisingly discontinued. I was also surprised that a boat of that quality wasn't on the forum or b&o. I have also emailed and got a reply which a guy called Dave said that the boat would be shipped to me from Ireland.

Very odd - as always with anything that seems too good to be true - it usually is.

In your quest for a 4.7 have a look at 5.3's too - having had a 4.7 I would go for something larger next time.

I have had a reply from the guy who is meant to be selling the 4.7 and he says that nobody is at home and the phone is off the hook. He wants me to send him my details, he can poke that!!
I've just advertised a Ribcraft 585 on here and the whole idea is to downsize to a boat that my two boys can learn in as i'm now on my local lifeboat crew and can not warrant keeping the 585 though she is a cracker. Are there any other hulls that I should consider in the 4 meter bracket? Do humber do a deep v hull in this size?

Cheers

Hi Woody, sorry did not realise you were downsizing - I am sure many SR enthusiasts will echo this but in the elusive 4.7m is the tops in it's length.

I did not own mine for long but the quality and fit of the fisheries model was fantastic.
