Avon Searider 4.7 wanted
Hi Chaps
I currently have a lovely Ribcraft 585 for sale and am trying to find a lovely original condition Avon Searider 4.7. Does anybody know of anything going now or in the near future. Boat needs to be in very good condition with no antifoul, good road worthy trailer and engine with service history preferred. I'm willing to pay good money for the right boat. Any suggestions on who it may be worth talking to would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Woody

Hi Searider
I drove 140 miles to look at that one today and the trailer was not in roadworthy condition.
Myself and the owner unfortunately could'nt come to a price comprimise we were both happy with.
Many thanks for the reply.

That SR4.7 looks excellent value. If it were me, I'd be rocking down there with a flatbed to load it onto.

Hi Captain pugwash
Thanks for the reply, I have already phoned about that one. Whisper said that there was a relatively large amount of work to be done on that one. Ironically Whisper bought the one I walked away from in Portsmouth which now seems like I made a major cock up!! I still live in hope!
Cheers

Not sure if this place is still in business?
This was a nice boat last time I saw it.

a
I was talking to whisper about this boat and it was indeed a steal at the price being asked. I recently paid 3450 for an immaculte hull and toobs and felt pretty smug about it. by the time the Deja Voodoo project is finished the whole thing is going to cost itro 13k and I'll still be chuffed to bits.
good luck with your search but i think you need to lower your expectations or raise your budget, but it will be worth it at the end cause there iss a definite smugness in owning the best small boat ever built, and built they truly are

I have been working away the last few days and have only just seen the one on ebay. I am going to phone this evening. Could you tell me any information you may know about the fisheries 4.7 version with the puncture resistant tubes - are they expensive to have re-tubed if you needed to? For example, is the tube to hull connection the same as on standard tubes? Thanks for everyone's help. Woody

the fisheries protection version is virtually the same to look at and how it fixes to the hull, bonded, the only difference is that the hypolon is a shoe lace design jacket, inside there is a large dense foam pipe lagging that covers a inflatable small tube which you inflate in the normal method...

Are they much heavier than the standard 4.7 and would a 60HP engine be adequate?
