Avon Searider Wanted
Avon Searider Wanted. I'm looking for an Avon Searider , 4 or 4.7 meter with a good engine or on its own. I've got £2500 at a push and really want a better engine than boat if that makes sense. In other words I can fix a boat myself and am more concerned with the quality and reliability of the engine which I'll have to pay someone else to fix. Cosmetics are not a problem for me, i'm going fishing not posing up the Kings Road !!!
Thanks for any feedback.

Hi, I am selling a 4.7 Searider tonight on eBay so I'll let you know when it goes on.
Or Nathan K on here had a SR4 in the for sale section.
But you may need to save a little more for either.

Should get a decent one for £2500, SR4 that is.
What did you get in the end?

In the end I got a 4 meter searider, on an old trailer, new bearing and shocks, the boat itself has two smallish patches, solid hull , a rough but repairable jocky seat, 2 steering wheels, cables , steering gear , and...................a bald spare wheel for the trailer, "my favourite bit !" NO ENGINE
Take a guess at the price.

Avon's are truly worshipped on here.
With a search on RIBnet you'll find everything you need to know from total rebuilds to - in very recent times - fitting, er, 'interesting' accessories.
There's a wealth of knowledge and pretty much all problems can be sorted

ARRRRR MY FRIENDS , nice one leapy, I too love Avons, I love anything that's gonna save my life, and one did last year. This will make you laugh, I got rescued in a 2 meter sib with a full load plus more, towing an inflatable kayak with a puncture , with two adults and stuff in, now you have to guess the engine I was using to tow us back from Fairlight Cove to the old town in Hastings. Guess ???? I'll save the suspense, it was a 55lb thrust electric trolling motor. I learnt a big lesson that day, "never eat yellow snow"

ooooo ooooooooo! , I can update my profile now from boat: none to boat:avon searider 4 , if it was the Black Perl I'd be less excited. Neslon was a greedy git if you ask me. I bet he would have swapped his whole fleet for a go in the searider though! Imagine him zipping across to the French , checking out the strategy, he'd have got side tracked and start doing water doughnuts and we'd have lost.
