You are probably right, a 140 would do the job on a 6.5, probably get into the low 30knots but not set the world alight. It could handle more, maybe 175 or 200 - though this depends very much on the hull - if it’s less deep a V then the 140 would work well, very deep V and you may want higher HP for thrills.

If you go for a 6m rib though the 140 would be perfectly matched.

So if you do go for a 6m rib and look at fitting an engine separately, I have a low hours Suzuki 140hp which I am parting with if you are interested.

i get about 38 knots. the rib is a moderate V. look at the reviews of RIb _X . very dry ride!

Good speed that, I get about 33 knots with the 140 and my 6.3m Ocean Pro - it does have a pretty deep vee which will slow me down a tad.

A quick update to say thankyou to everyone for your comments. I have found a boat that fits my needs perfectly, and will hopefully be on the water with her early January.
