Ribcraft 585 or Vipermax up to 6.5

Coming back to ribbing after a break and hopefully have a clear requirement about what we need for our family of four.

Must have 4 jockey seats and a trailer. Preferably an A-frame from which we can tow.

Looking for a 4 stroke engine would consider Opti/Etec, not interested in older 2 strokes.

Budget waiting up to £18k

What's out there?

Both Good Boats with excellent reputations ....and I'm sure you'd be happy with either option.
Although you're not strictly comparing like with like .(I'm a big fan of Ribcraft myself...and they do hold thier money well)...but considering the choice you offer ie.
The extra size of the Osprey at 6.5m compared to a smaller 5.85m RC ...I may well be tempted to go for the Bigger option.

....That is...ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL!!

Which in the REAL world is the Rub!.....engine choice (size and type)...hours..service history...equipment.... layout for you're needs ....and overall condition are very seldome the same when comparing used RIBS ....and would weigh heavy on my choice of these used models.
The list above and value for money would likely be my criteria for choice...The Redbay 6.5 would also be an option as would a few others.

Now if you were talking like for like....for ME the Larger Ribcraft 6.8 (the newer Osprey 6.5's are NOW named "6.8's") .....would win out every time!

Good luck with you're Hunt....incidently if you could find an extra couple of extra Grand towards you're Budget.
I think it may well bring into play alot of extra 20k+ Boats you could well be making offers on

Useful feedback and thoughts, thanks Maximus.

I’m sure a bit of man maths will come into play at some point.

There were a couple of 585’s sold recently just above my budget, so hopefully something will come up.

I will look at the other suggestions you made

A 585 has just been listed on the forums, within your budget. Take a look.

Ended up buying a 18 month old, used Ballistic 6 metre with 130 Yamaha. Epic budget creep !

It suits our family requirements, has lots of warranty left on the boat and engine, the service during the sales process was great.

Fair point

Will be sitting on an SBS trailer. Looking into having the trailer lighting changed from the lighting board to submersible LED. Is this even possible, have others done this on the moveable trailer board arms?

Need to arrange collection date around Christmas commitments

My trailer came with submersible LEDs fitted on retractable arms. I can’t see why it couldn’t be retrofitted by a handy person.
