Jonny I'm in chester too.
5 posts in and you've got an osprey with Mike fitting it out. You're doing v well!!! Welcome.
Launching Anglesey. On the strait will be best as it's generally more sheltered however navigation a little more advanced.
What's your boating/nav experience?
Re layout- what are your typical activities, fish, ski, cruise, sunny or all weathers, young or old passengers?

Just been at Mikes place today and he is putting in 4x single jockey seats which will be great! Also SIT putting a couple of wear patches on the tubes. I've got quite a few years of boating experience including working on fishing boats but not much RIB experience so looking to build on this.. I've got my RYA PB2 and thinking about the advanced but getting out on the sea is probably the best thing I can do. Hoping to get out on a trip with Mike in he the next few weeks also with Captain Pugwash who sold me the Rib!!

Hmm not so impressed with SIT. After they re glued a load of rubber on it all fell off on one trip round Anglesey. They then said "well that's the problem with non-new ribs you can never tell if it will stick". Never said anything prior to the work.
Mike's a good bloke though. He worked wonders on our hull.
Re boating, if you've done fishing and things you'll be fine, especially if you can get out with others. There's a good few that launch be Caernarfon at Ty Calch and would be happy to show you the strait etc Chris Caton, Rocknrolla, Tony t, pow2gran, whackwoody etc PM them and they'll be happy to go out.

Welcome to RIBnet. You're off to a crackin' start with an Osprey being sorted by Mike (own up, how long did you spend driving around looking for his place?).
I've been known to play out and about around Anglesey and don't live a million miles from you so look forward to meeting up on the water sometime soon. If you'd like a 'target date', Chris Caton and a few of the guys are out on Saturday 20th September when a few of our suvvern nobburs are making a journey to the Straits to sample some of Gareth's sandbanks....

Well as promised some pics of Tigger now that I've just got her back from Mike with 4 new pod seats and a wingback!! Haven't been out on the water yet, just waiting for the right weather window and I'm off to Ty Calch!

Looks good but that Steering helm position looks way to low. Moveable?

Lots of people prefer the higher position ,, that is there std location on that console though
Much more user friendly placed here ,, but not every one likes it,, Does look better laid out also though

Haven't had her on the water yet so will reserve judgement, but must admit I have felt the wheel was low and probably would prefer the higher position- how hard a job would it be?

looking nice Johnny, I'd give the steering a try before leaping into moving it
might be a while before we get to Ty Calch though

That's what I'll do! Your right about Ty calch though the weather doesn't seem to be showing any signs of improving! The first hint of an improvement I'll be on the blower
