Thanks for all the efforts... Will definitely chase up 'Big Dinghy'. Will wait to hear on the one in Scotland too just in case it is for sale. What kind of condition is it in? Sounds as if it's been ashore for a while...

The one I know of was in use 18 months ago. This is not the same boat that was in Rosyth.

A project may be preferable so would be very grateful if you could trace the owner of the laid-up boat in case it's for sale. Did you happen to notice what kind of drive system it has? Lots of the early P36's had traditional shafts with vee drive gearboxes - quite unusual for a RIB!

The P36 was used by Seaboard Offshore back in the day, they were taken over a few times and the owners changed every few years. One of their old ones sold 2-3 years ago. The other users were the Scottish Fishery Protection, but where they are now is anyone's guess. If you want to think outside of the Box, the Dutch KNRM have been known to offload their older boats from time to time.

Thanks for the info. One of the Scottish fishery boats sold a few years ago on findafishingboat - believe it was the Skua? Think a few went to the Netherlands too. Not sure how many are left as they're all getting on a bit now. I had wondered about a KNRM boat but have never seen one for sale. Plus they all seem to be massive so fuel costs would probably be prohibitive. Still, if one popped up it would definitely be worth a look. Guess a Ribworker may be another possibility.

What a shame, it would make a good project for Nugent though

Walked past it today, I thought is was more something Biffer would want to take on. Guess it would depend on the engines and drive condition.
Anyone know what is is?

RIB-Teccie - thanks for posting that - I had wondered what happend to her as up until about a year ago she was laid up in my local boatyard. She had been sat there untouched for at least 10 years and was/is in a poor state of repair. Definitely more than a months work for someone with moderate DIY skills as the ad suggests and certainly needs an owner with deep pockets. Like those early P36's, she too has a cold moulded mahogany hull.

Thanks for the info and photos of 'Big Dinghy' - I'm hoping to get in contact at somepoint today so will keep you posted as to how I get on.

Please do keep the suggestions coming.

Thanks to all those who responded to my original thread. The outcome was that I did manage to find a Pacific 36 RIB and this is now undergoing a refit in readiness for it's new life.

What I hadn't anticipated was the need for a second boat of this nature! Therefore, if anybody knows of another P36 that is/could be for sale, then I'd be very interested to hear from them.

Thanks in advance.
