Wanted RibCraft 5.85 and above
Hello,
I am looking for a solid second-hand RIB in good condition for use on the Thames in London:
Specifications: - length from 5.5m to 7.0m
- single engine
- less than 10 years
Ideal designs: - RibCraft 5.85
- Redbay 6.50
- Humber
- Delta Power
Many thanks!
Ben

Hi Ben, welcome to Ribnet. Are you intending to use the boat mainly on the tidal Thames between Richmond & the Thames Barrier? Or are you intending using it further afield in the estuary & beyond? The only reason I ask, it's that there are strict speed limits on the "inner city" section of the Thames that you would probably find very frustrating with any of the RIBs on your list.

Ahh![emoji106] that makes sense then. There was a 585 forsale a couple of weeks back, have you looked in the for sale section?

One here, and in Essex. Looks like it's one of the ex-London 2012 Olympic boats, as I'm sure that red colour was the specification, with Etec 115hp Ribcraft 585 for sale, 2012, EB3040 - Boats.co.uk
Or 2006 one with Suzuki DF140 (low hours) in Gloucestershire area. No pictures other than thumbnail at initial search. https://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/.../214927?op=map

I thought the Olympic boats were all Suzuki powered, I know Ribcraft aren't Evinrude dealers.

Might have been repowered.
Here's an ex-Olympic one with Suzuki DF90 which would be a bit lack lustre given it'll take 140hp. https://uk.youboat.com/buy/ribs/ribc...gine-and/95584

Thanks for sharing the links.
I am looking for at least 4 jockey seats so I will pass on the orange one (central consols look like a tractor to me... )
The second advert is expired unfortunately...
I will buy with my company so VAT is not an issue.
Ben

Are you going to use it commercially then? If so, it will most likely need coding, which is a different can o'worms. If you're not using it commercially & reclaiming the VAT, I'd keep quiet[emoji6]

I did not say it was a British company!
You have light coding rules in France for boats of less than 24m.
The boat might be reflagged...
I have owned a number of Stormforce 11 and Humber RIBs but sold everything last year. And I miss a boat now...

Hi Ben, I don't have his details, he's a guy on The Ribcraft FB page. PM me your email address & I'll forward it to him. I've posted on FB that you are interested & the vendor should drop by Ribnet.

does that not actually mean VAT is an issue? in that presumably you are hoping to recover some / all the VAT and therefore need to to be sold by a VAT registered business?

It may not need coded [if a UK vessel] if only being used by the directors/employees and their friends/family for pleasure free of charge. I've no idea what that does to its VAT status though. Certainly HMRC would view that as a BIK.

You snooze you lose. That was a very desirable boat at a fair price, it wasn't going to to hang around.
