Wanted- tohatsu 9.8 2 stroke

Hi guys, I'm looking to replace my current outboard for my sib. Like the sound of the 9.8 tohatsu 2 strokes very much, will make things alot easier albeit lose abit of power from the 15 I have.

If anybody is selling a mint condition example please get in touch. Thanks

The gearboxes are very weak on those. Ive seen one get rope round the prop and it pulled the propshaft and prop straight out the gearbox, never to be seen again.

No they're a very well regarded outboard and I wouldn't be put off by that one example phantom 19 mentions. He is/was in the trade and as an example I spent 20yrs on the service/repair of the motor trade. There's not a make or model car I couldn't tell you was a disaster in waiting due to this or that expensive failure. You just have to realise the stats are on your side and go for it.
