Wanted V.cheap old rib or dory for use with scouts etc
Wanted, very cheap old rib or dory for use with scouts to do power boat training and dinghy sailing safety duties. Ideally needs to be very cheap complete package and in North Wales. Does not need to be pretty. Can need work. Does not need to be complete. Anything considered.
All the best
David

Thanks again for your kind offer.

I agree it looks fairly bleak Poly. However, I wouldn't write the thread off just yet. I reckon the OP is ripe for a well maintained FunYak. Then you and I can sit down and have The Talk...
<- Insert really tasty Redbay

Well if the OP's budget stretches to the rigiflex C2 referred to, then we could certainly have a chat about starting my redbay fund off and getting him a boat with a much newer engine etc! You can then have the chat with Mrs P.

I really don't have a clue what most of this banter is about! I think it may help if I explain some of the financial position. The scouts have basically no money, but there is a grant I can apply for with a good chance of success which will give £1.5k. This would be in a 6 month time frame. We can probably fund raise towards £1k in a similar period. So £2.5k is the absolute limit, and that really needs to include the whole package and insurance. If something cheaper came up immediately (say <£1k) I may buy it outright myself and simply use it with the scouts or later sell it to the scouts. Having said all that people are often outrageously generous to the scouts just for asking, which would be great too, witness the offer of the "Jaffa" already! On the subject of the Jaffa, if anyone knows of an empty trailer coming north I would be more than happy to contribute to fuel...
All the best
David

The Cap 400 does look like a good example of what we could aim at if fund raising, though I doubt very much if we could raise the money fast enough for this one.
All the best

My Sea Scout group owns 2 'Jaffas' the 3.6 and 4m versions. Absolutely brilliant boats. Newmatic 360 and a 15hp is really quite good fun!
