Well cared for first RIB wanted

Hi All,

Currently in the market for our first RIB for use along the South Devon coast this summer!

Looking for a sound and seaworthy example. I was picturing something in the range 5-6m with approx 50HP on the back. Budget is around £5k but willing to consider spending a bit more for the right boat.

Cash waiting and willing to travel to view.

Thanks for your time, Rupert

Hi rupes, welcome to the forum.

Just a warning, 50hp will be useless on those sizes of boat.....be careful if you find one.

Hello and welcome

It'll be worth speaking to Dave at Sea Swift boats. He has great 4.7 zodiac with a 50 on the back that has very low hours.

I only traded it in as I needed bigger.

Make sandwiches and get a flask of coffee. All the best ribs are a road trip and a Cal Mac ferry away!

Avon SR5.4, Lochboisdale - FAFB
Within budget too if you haggle!

Hi & welcome. There's also a world of difference between 4 & 6 m in Ribland. As a ball park figure, 5m needs around 90hp (give or take) to be of any use on open water, smaller/larger boats need proportionately fewer/more horses.

All IMHO of course

Don't forget to look at the "For Sale" RIBs on the forum..... I have seen a couple of Zodiac's around 4.7m with 50HP 4 Strokes.

You might find a Zodiac 4.2 package for under £5k, but anything near the 5-6m range, then no. Wills Marine have a 2003 Zodiac 4.9 and 2006 Evinrude 60hp for £6,995, and its in Devon!

I have a 5m Humber with a 60hp 2 stroke on the back.
Bought it as a project but need funds to finish the house unfortunatly!
1994 model. Does about 20-25 knot cruise speed.
Engine just serviced. Carbs cleaned, new spark plugs and anything that needs replaced I have done on the strip down of the carbs. Various o rings as such.

Starts on the button each and every time.
Could do with a tidy up, just started to strip the anti foul off and re do but as the house needs finishing I'm looking to move it on fairly quick.
Looking for around 2500 but open to offers

Pics can be sent upon request if you would like.

thanks brennan
