Managed a quick launch for a couple of hrs down at Stannah(Blackpool)today and finally christened the humber.Fantastic boat, wanted to stay out longer but due to the tide it wasn't possible.Roll on the summer!!

Looking good Mark.

Very nice!
Not launched off Stannah yet. Always been recommended not too. How do you find it?

Mollers 15 February 2009 19:12

Lookin' good! The maiden voyage is a good feeling. We poured champers over ours (not the whole bottle;)) and kept the cork which is now attached to the key. :p

RAD 15 February 2009 19:18

Looks great, is that "brand new"?

Like the orange and black detail.

Mollers 15 February 2009 19:21

Is that the 'no mates' version with just the single chair? :]

Yep,its brand new and the orange colour certainly stands out.

Was a bugger today at Stannah as the creek is very narrow and there wasnt much water. There is also no room for error otherwise you end up grounded on the mud for 10 hours!!
Better to stick to the large spring tides at Stannah or Knott end slip or beach launch for the smaller tides depending on the weather/wind

Have been using Knott end but after each launch I have to drive around the river back up to fleetwood to see my mum and dad because If I didn't visit I'd have my ear chewed off. So Stannah seems like a better option. Been and had a look and it looks tight. Reading about it on boat launch you have to launch at low tide so you can see the banks sticking out of the water? Knowing my luck!

Cracking looking RIB, will have to get together for a cruise sometime

it certainly looked and sounded nice when you visited us at knott end slip after we had dropped the clients off. We waited an hour or so for the tide to drop away and calm the slip off. Pulled out at around 1630 eventually. Long day, my bunch of insomniacs wanted to be up and running by 0800 and away early for various personal reasons.
Stanah is I think even worse this year, we put the ocean pro in there last week for a blast and to blow the cobwebs off it. Neaps are a waste of time, springs may just give you a couple of hours either side of high, perhaps! The tide on saturday was a good 9m plus but it had dropped away to an alleged 8.3 on sunday but I doubt it even made that.

It's a very fast tide there. It's gone before you know it. I got stuck on the west bank of the river once in a 2.5m yam inflatable. The little outboard had picked up a lobster pot that was only marked by a plastic milk bottle. The split pin sheared off and I was high and dry surrounded by VERY soft sand.

Anytime your over here and fancy a cruise together either from Knott end or Stannah, drop me an email, available most of the time.
Was hoping to get out again sunday and put another couple of hours on the engine, but the forcast aint looking too healthy!

wavelength 19 February 2009 21:26

probably not too bad if you put in below the dogleg. Water will leave the end of the jetty 3.30ish and then not back til 5.00 or so. Be a bit muddy at the bottom I expect.

Once the engine is run in and the better weather(hopefully)arrives it would be great to meet up for a cruise John, either Knott end or Stannah. No crew for sunday so not having a play this weekend, typical really when i have a free weekend

JSP 22 February 2009 14:41

Very nice set-up. What's on the back a Tohatsu 90hp?

Yep,one brand new shiny Tohatsu 90 tldi.Once its done a few more gentle hours it should push the rib along at a nice rate of knots!Certainly get some more hours on the engine next weekend on the better tides.

JSP!Look forward to a meet up in the near future, espeically if your rib lives up this end of Lancashire.
