Avon SR4 refurb

Hi all I have just bought an SR4 project! Does anyone know thickness of the deck and what is below as I have a consol to fit and would like to screw it down before fibre glassing it down? Help and suggestions welcome?

well done you and welcome to RIBnet

no idea about deck thickness, but you won't have to wait long for an answer, you need to be careful where you screw through so you don't hit the air chambers, so one posted a pic on my SR4 project thread with the location on the chambers, I'll see if I can find it for you

Have a search for searider project or sr4 deck or the like on here....

I'm currently enjoying a four seat classic sr4 :-)

can't find the post, it might have been on the rib for MacMillan thread, but I'm sure if you ask the question again someone will tell you about the air chambers under a SR deck, I think if you look through the "flooding" hole in the transom you may see them

Take a look here at the photos of the underside of the deck I cut out. Deck thickness was about 8-10mm made up of a grp sandwich laminate with 3 or 4mm ply in the middle. This is usually what rots out as while you can seal the screws from the top you'll struggle to seal them from below and obviously they get wet when the hull floods.
