Looking for replacement fuel connector with M10 x 1 thread
 

Hi all.

This relates to an old Yamaha P185. I've been trying to get a matching hose connector for the male fuel connector on the body, but no luck. So now it's time to replace both with a new matched pair.

The engine fitting shown has an M10 x 1 thread (or could it be slightly more - 1.1mm? Def not 1.5mm). Anyone know of any modern connector with the same thread size so I don't need to drill or retap the engine casing?

I don't think that chart shows the dim I am after - the size of the mounting thread?


Just hoping someone on here either has a loose Tohatsu fitting they could measure, or perhaps just happens to 'know' (what an exciting companion for a pint :-) )

M10 x 1mm is a fine thread used on some stainless items. To confirm what you have maybe try a local fastener company to see if they have stock of nuts so you can confirm the thread before searching for the fitting online.

M10 comes in three variants 10x1,10×1.25 &10×1.5 it could be any of them measure the no of threads over a 10mm length & divide by 10 & that should make it easier to identify the thread. But I suspect getting a fitting exactly like that may be a challenge unless its from the original manufacturer

Devsad. Vast range of these type of connector sets on the RS website (www.rswww.com). You might find what you're looking for there but as others have said, check thread size & pitch first

As you can see from the photo above, the threaded section isn't all that long, and it's also awkward getting a micrometer in there due to the nut flange. However, I gave it a going-over with a marker pen and rolled it on to an eraser - nice pattern...

6 thread peaks produced, measuring - as accurately as I could with a micrometer - ~5.16mm between the outer ones, which means fractionally over 1mm thread pitch, but quite possibly exactly 1mm allowing for line thickness and other accuracy factors.


OD of thread is 9.48mm, so I'm guessing that's M10 allowing for clearance?
Pretty sure it is M10 x 1, then, unless there's an alternative thread sizing that conforms to the above? I can't find one, tho'. It certainly isn't 1.25mm pitch.


Just need to confirm whether a Tohatsu fitting has M10x1, then...

Hmm, 9.48mm did strike me as being a bit narrow, but now you've pointed that out it seems a lot narrower!

If I can get a matched pair of connectors that happens to have an M10x1 thread, then it's going in there - hook or crook...

3/8 unf is my bet its almost bang on your dimensions

Ah! Thanks, Beam. I guess that also makes sense for such an old motor.

Just checked t'interweb - 24tpi too, so that also figures; fractionally over 1mm spacing.

First, yes the old Yamaha connector (from a P165) has a 3/8UNF thread - thanks BeamishKen.


Tohatsu connectors, for info, are M10 x 1.25
