Finally fixed,yam 80

At last all problems solved!

It was overheating and loosing pee at 4000 rpm.

Advice on forum was the powerhead gasket had not sealed ( that was the case ) I was advised to use STAG WELLSEAL...

yamaha trim gauge wireing

Just purchased a new yamaha trim gauge (Ebay), looked to be the same as mine.

Block connector on new one is 4 spade mine is 4 plug.

My old one has 4 wires out the back ( setting aside the bulb...

I was warned about this b4 installing it, so i took great care to clean both surfaces with 400 wet & dry and a flat metal block,...

Yamaha 80 overheat on 4000rpm

84 yam 80 overheat at 4000 rpm,

had new block, impella and insert.

new gear oil.

new temp sensor.

Timing and and carbs set by (pro).

As far as i can see it is imposible to set static timing on this model!

Moving the timing/throtle arm on static does not move any visual timing.

Also my manual states 22 BTDC +/-1, are you saying it should be 20?

My manual says to move the arm to the full open position to check the timing.

It does not mention if it should be in gear? although i guess it...

Thanks for your reply.

Just replaced the impeller and insert, ran it up to temp and it seems to be ok now, must have been the rev limiter cutting in on overheat.

I did have water runing out...

I have just purchased a complete powerhead minus electrics,and replaced on my yam 80,( was told it was a good runner b4 dismantled).
It starts,and idles but above 2000 revs it wont...
