Well, we ended up doing atleast 50 miles and used...

Well, we ended up doing atleast 50 miles and used about 20 litres petrol. Thats with 2 of us, camping gear and certainly not trying to be economical. Happy with that.

Fuel economy

Has anyone got any figures on the fuel economy of a 3.80m inflatable with a 30hp 2 stroke? Im thinking a 23 litre tank should be good for atleast 40 miles travelling fairly swift on calm sea.

As an update, the adapter that Ribshop sent me...

As an update, the adapter that Ribshop sent me works great. Such a simple device and the boat now fills with ease, top up with footpump not necessary.

Why don't valve adapters have a cross piece within them that would force the valve spring down and therefore open the valve for easier inflation?

I found out that the engine is ex surf life...

I found out that the engine is ex surf life saving and the tilt mech is removed for them. I contacted the life saving guys and they just use a broom handle.

I suppose I could buy a new tilt mech.

Starting outboard lying down

Ive not got an outboard stand available and need to start a 30hp 2 stroke Merc lying down to make sure it works. Is this ok to do? Of course it will not be in gear

How many hours do you reckon these boats run for per day or year? I have the chance to buy a 2005 30hp mercury from one of these boats and wondering on the hours of use.

Well, ive found a 30hp Mercury 2 stroke which looks to be a fair way lighter than most 25hp motors. Would this be viable?

Motor for 3.8m

Ive got a Zebec 380A and choosing from a 15, 20 and 25hp motors 2 or 4 stroke. There will usually only be 2 people on board but maybe an extra person or 2 on occasion. What motor would you buy?
