Can second that - my XS650 with Merc 150hp would do best 1.2 litres/nm and I could average 1 litre/nm reliably even when doing short, fast 35+ knot trips & harbour pootling.

I think I'd keep it on the trailer (which doesn't add any real length or cost in the equation) and put the whole thing in the container so it's then easy to get it out at the other end and launch it...
